Our Approach To Sustainability

At Moma Hilo, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We believe in creating fashion that respects people and the planet, ensuring that every piece we make is intentional, ethical, and built to last.

1. Made to Order We operate on a made-to-order model to reduce waste and overproduction. Every garment is crafted with care, ensuring that only what is needed is made, minimising excess stock and landfill waste.

2. Responsible Materials We source deadstock fabrics—high-quality materials that would otherwise go to waste—to give them new life. This reduces the demand for new fabric production and lowers our environmental impact.

3. Ethical Production We work closely with skilled artisans and ethical manufacturers who share our values. By prioritising fair wages, safe working conditions, and craftsmanship, we ensure that every Moma Hilo piece is made with respect and integrity.

4. Timeless Design We create garments that are meant to be treasured for generations. Our designs focus on longevity, versatility, and quality, encouraging a more thoughtful approach to fashion consumption.

5. Transparency & Education We believe in open conversations about sustainability. Through storytelling, we share insights into our process, materials, and partners, empowering our community to make informed choices. As part of our commitment to education, we have a fashion residency at BCE, where we hold regular workshops with students about running a sustainably led fashion business.

6. Continuous Improvement Sustainability is a journey. We are always learning, evolving, and seeking better ways to minimise our impact while staying true to our values.

Join us in redefining fashion—one intentional piece at a time.
