About

Designed To Be Treasured

Moma Hilo is a slow fashion brand creating timeless, made-to-order pieces with intention. By using carefully selected deadstock fabrics, we minimise waste while celebrating local craftsmanship and thoughtful design. Our pieces are designed to be worn, loved, and passed down—built for longevity, not trends.

Our Name

Moma Hilo is named after four women from Penelope’s family—Mollie, Margaret, Hilda, and Louise—each of whom have shaped the brand’s values. Their love for making, treasuring, and passing down clothing is woven into everything we do.

Their influence lives on in every piece we create—thoughtful, timeless, and made to be treasured.

Our Story

Moma Hilo was born from a desire to reconnect with clothing—to bring back the sense of meaning, care, and storytelling that once surrounded the way we dressed.

Our founder, Penelope, was inspired by a suitcase of her grandmother’s clothes that her mother has treasured for years. Each piece in that case holds a story—where it was bought, where it was worn, and the memories tied to it. Over time, these garments became a way for Penelope to get to know her grandmother, a reminder of the personal connection we once had with our clothes.

Today, much of that connection has been lost. Fast fashion and over-consumption has made clothing disposable, stripping away the craftsmanship and sentiment that make pieces truly special. Moma Hilo was created to change that—to offer pieces designed with intention, made to be cherished, and crafted to stand the test of time. Many of our pieces are adjustable allowing them to have a longer life-cycle and making them easier to pass on to different body types.

Why Made to Order?

At Moma Hilo, we believe clothing should be made with purpose. That’s why we operate on a made-to-order model—so every piece is created with intention, reducing waste and ensuring thoughtful production. Every piece of Moma Hilo is made locally in London by our trusted makers.

Our shop opens on the first Tuesday of each month, for one day only. By making pieces to order in this way, we can share the journey of your garment being crafted, allowing you to see the process behind what you wear.

Want early access? Sign up for our mailing list to shop a few days before the collection goes live - so you can secure your pieces before anyone else.
